In August, our KaliPAK powered the Burning Man 2016 festival in Nevada. For anyone who isn’t familiar with this tradition: Burning Man is an amazing off-grid mega event, where tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art and self-reliance.
The KaliPAK fits in really well with Burning Man, supporting connectivity for days on end of off-grid adventures. It provided power for all the camp dweller’s needs, 24/7. The KaliPAK was placed in the middle of the camp, always on and in use, charging cell phones, goPro Batteries and camera batteries and other devices. It withstood numerous dust storms and continued to provide a solid charge all week!
The camp was equipped with another charging solution, the Solarbeatz art car, which had considerable charging power, but being a mobile truck, it was frequently out of the camp and not always available.
“Having the KaliPAK allowed us to have a reliable charging station off the truck, so we didn't have to drive off while charging people's phones,” said Bianca, from the Gobi Project. The Gobi Project, is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire and provide fun, education and sustainability through its solar powered Solar Beatz truck.“The PAK was super easy to use, literally just putting it out, powering in and start charging. We loved that all the parts fit so neatly into the PAK. Also, I was able to set it up without having to involve one of the guys (which was awesome).”
